I backed up files in 2006 with nero 6 pro. From an hp desktop with win xp pro. I restored all the files a few months ago on another note book with XP. Now I bought this one and it has Vista; nero 6 wont run on it so I downloaded nero 8 trial, and now when I try to restore the files on this computer all the files

That's correct but you can install even Nero 6.x in Vista 64 and it will work, you can't install the whole package but if you select only the CD/DVD burning part it will work. Nero 6 is not compatible with Vista. How can you go back to Nero 6 and have Vista?? How can he answer that? Do you really expect for him to have the technical I only stated a very basic observation that Nero 6 is incompatible with Vista so that it is impossible for him to go back to Nero 6 when Vista is the OS.

I know Nero 7 has an expensive update that will work with vista home edition. What I'm wondering is will Nero 6 work with vista home edition...has anyone Take a look at a thread from earlier today "Vista/Nero" and you will see "Dale" saying he has Nero 6 on Vista.
